You can use the following communication channels to share information, news and events with the campus community. If you have any questions, please contact us at internalcomm@niu.edu.

Each Monday, we send an announcement email to NIU employees and students. The emails include university news and information, professional opportunities and upcoming events.

Digital signs are a great way to promote an event or share information. The signs are displayed on video monitors throughout campus buildings. You can submit content for display by filling out a Clearinghouse Review and Mass Email Request Form.

Guidelines

  • Include minimal text in your submission (title, subhead, date, time, location and a URL for more information). You only have a few seconds to convey your message.
  • Follow these specifications:
    • 670 x 692 pixels for campuswide signage placement
    • 1250 x 838 pixels for main NIU channel and department channels
  • Read the NIU Digital Signage Guidelines and Overview for more information and templates.
  • If you need assistance developing effective digital signage, please contact our Creative Services department using the Graphics Request Form.

The NIU events calendar includes key NIU events and events submitted by departments across campus. It also includes feeds from NIU Athletics and CITL registration platform. To submit an event to the calendar, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the events calendar using your NIU ID and password.
  2. Click on Submit an Event.
  3. Fill out the required fields (Event Name, Description, Start Date) and as many optional fields as you can.
  4. Click on Add Event.

We'll verify and publish the event within one business day.

Tips for submitting an event:

  • Many locations are pre-populated in the Place field, and will load if you start typing in the box. Check the places list for official names.
  • You can upload your own photo or a stock image in the Event Photo field.

Please note: The events calendar is separate from the academic calendar.

NIU Today is the university's internal news platform. We use it to publish news and information of interest to the campus community. Recent stories from NIU Today are regularly emailed to employees and students. You can submit a story idea for NIU Today by emailing niutoday@niu.edu.
